A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.
While perhaps not at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miamiās iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
āThis animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,ā declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a new presidential term.
āUnless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,ā the mayor added. āI hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.ā
This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.
The pig, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the current slang trend of young people exclaiming ā6-7ā ā deriving from a rap song lyric ā often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared ā6-7ā its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge āfar from charcoal and roasting pansā, according to the organizers' announcement.
āThe pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,ā said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.
āIt represents the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.ā
Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
