Fans Demand Arrest of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who breached a barrier and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the Australian man pushing past media personnel and charging at Grande while the performers made its way down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though legal records revealed that he was due to be present on the next day. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram feed features videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last year.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Safety
Numerous fans criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said one more response on Instagram.
Several supporters also criticised event staff at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed surprised when she was touched by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had congregated in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two very different sorceresses.
The show itself is a spin-off of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, winning two for best costume and production design.
