Oscar-Nominated Star Diane Ladd, Famed For Her Role in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Dies at 89 Years Old.

The actress, with filmography included National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, left this world in her residence in Ojai, California. Her passing was shared through a message from her child, Oscar-winning actor her daughter Laura Dern.

Her daughter, who performed alongside her mom in various films like Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose, called her “my incredible hero and my profound gift as a mother”, writing that she was by her side during her final moments.

“She was the most wonderful mother, daughter, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created,” she wrote. “We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now.”

Initial Roles and Major Success

Her initial acting years featured supporting roles in TV shows like The Fugitive whereas the 1970s had her appearing alongside Jack Nicholson in the classic Chinatown.

During that year, the year 1974, she performed with actress Ellen Burstyn in the Martin Scorsese acclaimed comedy drama Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Her role earned Ladd her initial Oscar nod as best supporting actress.

Subsequent Years

During the eighties, she starred in the thriller the movie Black Widow and comedy sequel National Lampoon’s holiday comedy and appeared on the sitcom Alice, a comedy program inspired by the film Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.
