Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Problems.
'Major setback' for England after Atkinson leaves the field with a hamstring injury.
Gus Atkinson further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the ground during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.
The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.
The touring camp reported Atkinson felt some "soreness" and would spend time away from the action for further assessment "over the next few hours".
The final Test of the tour at the SCG begins at the end of the week.
The visitors have previously lost key quicks one seamer with a knee problem and another paceman to a side strain during this series.
A replacement bowler was called up as injury reinforcement.
The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere three wickets.
He was left out from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the fourth Test to fill the void.
Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets with the ball, before adding 28 while batting among just a trio of England players to reach double figures.
Post a single over late on the first day, he returned the next day and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.
Yet, at the end of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to the batsman and suddenly grabbed at his leg.
Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed the Adelaide game.
