Swedish Squad Lineup: Isak Included Whereas Gyokeres Excluded
The striker moved to Arsenal after leaving Sporting this summer
Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres has been omitted in the new manager's initial Sweden squad, whereas Liverpool forward Alexander Isak secured selection
The Arsenal forward is due to undergo further medical tests in the coming days following fears he suffered a hamstring injury in the Gunners's English top flight win against Burnley last weekend
The 27-year-old was absent from Arsenal' Champions League win versus the Czech side earlier this week
Isak Makes Comeback
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured from 22 October owing to a groin injury, was selected to play in World Cup qualifying fixtures against the Swiss team (November 15th) plus Slovenia (18 November)
Additional Premier League Selections
- Tottenham midfielder the young talent, working his way back after a head knock
- Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga
These players feature in Potter's England-based contingent chosen under former multiple English clubs manager Graham Potter
Potter's Role
The English manager was named by Sweden initially on a short-term basis in late October, less than a month following he was dismissed by the Hammers
Previous manager Jon Dahl Tomasson was fired following the national team's defeat against Kosovo in mid-October, an outcome that made direct progression in their World Cup group out of reach
Current Standing
The Swedish team sit bottom of their qualifying group with only a single point from their opening four games
Should they don't manage to claim the runner-up spot, they could still take part in the secondary qualification as a result of their results in the most recent UEFA competition
