Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior official stated the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
